BLOOD SUGAR
Importance of the Hypoglycemic Diet for Fibromyalgia
I cannot stress enough the importance of the hypoglycemic diet for the protocol. About 30-40% of fibromyalgia patients also have blood sugar issues in addition to fibromyalgia. And when following the guaifenesin protocol, we might start to notice the lesions getting smaller and the pain subsiding, but we will never fully feel better with the energy we so desperately desire, unless we do the diet. That is why the hypoglycemic diet is so pertinent to recovering and reversing your symptoms of fibromyalgia for so many.
Some of the symptoms you may have are hunger tremors, weakness, fatigue, pounding heart, irritability, insomnia, faintness, impaired memory, anxiety, frontal headaches, panic attacks, severe sugar cravings, dizziness, blurred vision, gas, bloating, diarrhea, sweating, weight gain, muscle stiffness, and leg and foot cramps.
If you need to change your diet, you just need to. We don't get to pretend. You will begin to believe that the guaifenesin isn't working, when infact you just need to get on board with the diet.
The best way to find out if you respond well to the Hypoglycemic diet is to start following it and keep a journal of how you feel each day.
We will be uploading documents of symptoms, foods you can eat and foods to avoid, and how to lose weight on the diet.
To start with, cut out all sugar and forms of sugar, such as maple syrup, honey and high fructose corn syrup. All sugar means all sugar. You may use sugar substitutes, such as xylitol, sucralose and aspartame. Hidden forms of sugar in processed foods are dextrose, sucrose, glucose, fructose, maltose, hexitol, and galactose. Avoid all products containing these sugars.
You also will need to cut out all starches: corn starch, potato starch, rice starch, modified food starch, any ingredient in foods that end in starch.
Finally, cut out all caffeine. Depending on how much caffeine you consume in a day, this might be the hardest to overcome. It can take anywhere from a day to 10 days to recover from cutting out all caffeine, but it is necessary in following this diet.
Other foods to strictly avoid: Alcohol, Baked beans, Refried beans, Black-eyed peas (cow peas), Bananas, Lima beans, Potatoes, Corn, Dried fruits, All Fruit juices, Barley, Rice, Pasta (all types), Flour Tortillas, Tamales, Sweets of any kind, Products which contain Dextrose, Glucose, Hexitol, Lactose, Maltose, Sucrose, Honey, Fructose, Corn Syrup, Food Starch, Caffeine.
What can you eat? Meat, vegetables, fats, fruits, cheese and dairy, decaf coffee, nuts, whole grain sugar free breads, and sugar/caffeine free drinks. Really you can eat a lot, you just need to be aware of what is additional things are being put into the foods.
How you feel later will be SO worth the trouble of making this life change.
